Enjoyable Aspects of Our Job

One of the most enjoyable aspects of our job is to honor those who work hand in hand with us to provide services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.  For one of our domestic violence awareness month activities, we had the privilege of honoring both our Sheriff’s Office and the Cleveland Police Department for their efforts.  Staff of the Family Violence Program made cookies and were able to drop them off at both offices today.  The cookies are just a small token of our appreciation to our local law enforcement who work so hard at keeping all of us safe.

We Give Hope 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk

On a cool October 4th morning approximately 62 runners and walkers came to Tinsley Park to “give hope” to those in our community who either had been or were currently experiencing domestic violence. The enthusiasm from both the volunteers who worked the event and the participants was overwhelming. This is the program’s first attempt at a fundraising project and we feel it was well attended and went very well. Attached are some pictures from the event. Special thanks to Catherine Rice, Executive Assistant to the CEO of Family Resource Agency for organizing the event, and to the Agency’s Board of Directors for all their help and support!

Thanks to Our Community

Thanks to our community for all the old cell phones that were donated to the program.  The phones are used to give to victims of abuse who currently have no phone and can only be used for emergencies such as calling 911.  All other phones are sent to an agency called Shelter Alliance, which pays us for even broken phones.  They in turn, either recycle or dispose of the phones properly.  We have had approximately 30 phones donated over the past few months and there are more coming in.  Thank you for your generosity.
