On October 3rd, 2015, the program held its third annual We Give Hope 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk. The event’s purpose was to both increase awareness about the issues of domestic and sexual violence and raise money for the Family Violence Program. We were successful! They were approximately 40 runners and walkers who showed up for the event on that chilly morning. Program staff also set up a “Clothesline Project, which included t-shirts that were painted by survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The t-shirts are powerful tools, and give words and pictures of both the horror and abuse survivors have been though. Through the support of the community, the program raised over $12,000.00 and staff were able to get the news out to the public about how domestic and sexual violence impact our community.
